I'm Not a Machine!

ree

It has been a roller-coaster week for me. So much in my mind, and I was constantly struggling with my DOing and BEing as a leader. Thanks to my life purpose of Empowering Leaders and Personal Values, I was able to anchor myself and focus on self-management. As I reflected daily on my DOing and BEing as a leader, many thoughts came to mind. One reflection stood out, and this is my Reminder to self this weekend...

WHAT?

A machine can perform consistently because it does not have to,

  • manage morale & emotions

  • manage energy & politics

  • manage stress & expectations

  • mange covid & ensure my team members are safe

  • engage stakeholders

  • deal with short term results & plan for future

  • develop others and stretch/expand their range

  • draw out the best from people

  • learn quickly & dare to face failures

  • bring people closer together while accomplishing the tasks

  • orchestrate average abilities for great impact

  • be purpose-led and find meaning in everything we do

  • etc., etc., etc...

SO WHAT?

For a machine, every day is the same.

I am not a machine. My best will look different every day.

It's ok to experience high sometimes. It's ok to be not so high.

NOW WHAT?

With this clarity, I need to exercise a lot of self-management and draw energy from my inner resources, such as my Life Purpose and Values. I will be mindful of the chatter of my inner critics and saboteurs. The stories I will tell myself are,

“It's ok to say I need to rest & pause. I'm running a marathon, not a sprint. I can only give from a cup that is filled.”

“It's ok to slow down the momentum or progress for my people when needed. With people, fast is slow and slow is fast.”

“I am always in control of my Desires, Actions, Words and Intentions. At the end of every day, when I ask myself if I have given my best,

I will say 'YES', AND wherever I am, it's ok! :)”
